Folklorama 2003

Folklorama 2003

Sunday, August 10 - Saturday, August 16

Take part in the good food and great times to be had at the Slovenija Pavilion at this year’s Folklorama. The Slovenian community is proud to be a part of Canada’s largest ethnic festival and this year’s edition will sure to be an exciting place to be this August.

This years ambassadors were (Left to right) Hilda Terry, Mary Sobocan, Kelsey Sukic, and Erin Lebar

Come and take in the colours, flavours and hospitality of Slovenia. Hope you all make the Slovenija Pavilion a stop on your Folklorama tour. We’d love to see you!

We’re Moving!

Folklorama 2003 for the Slovenija Pavilion will take place the week of August 10th – 16th. This year, we are changing the complete look of our pavilion. Our membership has asked us to see if moving to a new venue will expose our pavilion to more people. While the Our Lady of Lourdes setting has served us very well for over 30 years, we all agreed that for 2003 we would try a new venue, and determine if our culture can be shared by more people.

Our location for Folklorama 2003 will be Daniel McIntyre High School, located in Winnipeg’s West End, on 720 Alverstone, one block west of the intersection of Arlington and Wellington.

While much of our planning is continuing, 2003 promises to continue our fine traditions, such as world class entertainment, a vibrant cultural display and food to satisfy every palate, from our famous barbecued pork and chicken to our delectable pastry selection. To wash down that great food, this year we will be having Laško Pivo from Slovenia and of course some great Slovenian wines.

Make sure you make Slovenija a stop on your Folklorama 2003 world tour, and visit us at our new location, Daniel Mac High School. The venue may be new, but the good times and friendly atmosphere will continue.

Slovenija pavilion wrap-up reports are available for both the 2001 and 2002 festivals. Just click on the year to view the report.
