NATALIE ZMAVC WINS
FOLKLORAMA 2002
AMBASSADOR GENERAL COMPETITION
Each year, Folklorama Pavilions appoint four Ambassadors to represent the entire festival, as well as their own culture, at all Folklorama events.
From the 180 Ambassadors for the 2001 festival, 40 ambassadors entered the Ambassador General competition. The two youth and two adult Ambassador Generals will be the official representatives of Folklorama at all major events not only in Winnipeg, but across North America.
On Thursday, July 5th, 2001, the Ambassador General’s Inaugural Ceremony was held at the Delta Winnipeg Hotel.
There, the 12 finalists were announced. Soon after, those finalists had to complete their closing portion of the competition in front of 750 guests.
Later that evening, the two adult and two youth Folklorama Ambassador Generals for 2002 were announced, including our very own Natalija Zmavc!
The two top youth ambassadors are granted a $1,000 post -secondary entrance scholarship presented by Cambrian Credit Union. The four Ambassador Generals are each awarded an outstanding ring by Al’s Jewelers, an embroidered sash to wear for all appearances, and a medallion.
Congratulations Natalie!! All the best and thank you for representing Folklorama and our Slovenian community!
