Gorenjska
This costume was formed in the second half of the 19th Century. Slovenian folklore dancers chose the costume from Bled to be their national garb. Only a few changes were made before it became adopted as the Slovenian national dress.
The decorative headpiece “avba” was worn by married women only. The smaller “zavijačka” was worn by the single ladies. The gold embroidery on both head pieces represented a family’s wealth.
